Run your whole bus operation from EDII

The biggest addition in months: a complete Transport section. Watch every bus on a live map, build routes by clicking stops onto that map, put students on them in bulk, and see who actually boarded each morning. Vehicle and driver papers are tracked to their expiry dates, bus fees are reconciled against who is really riding, and an SOS from a driver raises an alert you can acknowledge. Also this week — the new EDII Terminal, and table headings that stay put while you scroll.

Transport, end to end 19 updates

School buses are usually run on a WhatsApp group, a printed route list and a phone call to the driver. This week EDII gets a Transport section of its own — the buses, the drivers, the routes, the children on each route, the papers that must not lapse and the fees that must match, all in one place and all on the same map. Every screen prints or downloads to Excel wherever it shows a list. Find it in the sidebar under Operations → Transport.

The whole bus operation, in one place

A live Transport Dashboard. Every bus appears on a live map as it runs, labelled by registration number and colour-coded by how fresh its position is. Beside the map you get the trips running right now, a summary of documents about to expire, and an emergency banner with an Acknowledge button the moment a driver raises an SOS.
A register of your vehicles. Keep each bus's registration number, bus number, name and seating capacity together with its RC, Insurance, PUC, Fitness and Permit papers and every expiry date. The dates are colour-coded, so what's due is obvious at a glance.
A register of your drivers. Drivers and attendants with phone number, licence number and licence expiry — plus the EDII user ID each driver signs into the driver app with.
Routes & Stops, drawn on a map. Build a route by clicking its stops straight onto a map, name each stop, put them in the order the bus visits them, and set a pickup and drop time for each. Then give the route its bus, driver and attendant.
Put students on routes in bulk. Filter by class, section or route, choose whether each student travels both ways or only pickup or only drop, and apply the lot in one go. Anything that couldn't be applied is listed back to you rather than silently skipped.
Bring your existing details across. Import Transport Data walks you through moving your current bus, stop and route details in. EDII shows what it found and where it came from, flags what already exists, lets you correct names, and creates only what you tick.
A menu built around your day. The Transport menu is grouped into the handful of things you use daily — Track (Live Tracking, Trip History, Boarding Attendance), Setup (Routes & Stops, Vehicles, Drivers, Student Assignments) and Fees & Passes. Occasional tools — imports, vehicle documents, overspeed, the older reports — sit inside Transport Settings → More tools.

Watch a trip, and see who was on board

The whole trip on one screen. Pick a running bus and Live Tracking now shows its route, the path the bus actually drove, and the list of children on board — who has boarded, who has been dropped, who is absent — all together. No second page to open to answer a parent's question.
Recent Trips, right there. A new Recent Trips panel on the same screen lets you pull up a trip that has already finished and see it the same way.
Each child's own pickup point. On Student Assignments every student now has a Set on map button to drop a pin at their home. Drivers can do the same from the bus with one tap while standing at the child's gate, and the pin appears here — so pickups and drops follow where the child actually lives, not where the stop roughly is.
Trip History you can replay. Pick a date range and route to see every trip that ran, with driver, start and end times, distance, duration, stops covered and how many students boarded. Click any trip to replay its exact path on a map alongside its stop and student events.
Boarding Attendance. See which students actually boarded the bus — by a single date or a date range, filtered by class and section.
No more buses that quietly vanish. A bus whose driver has started a trip but whose GPS hasn't reported yet is now listed as "Waiting for GPS", instead of the trip simply not appearing at all.

Papers, fares and speed — nothing slips

Compliance in one list. Every vehicle and driver document with how soon it expires — already expired, or due within 7, 15 or 30 days — with totals at the top so nothing lapses unnoticed.
Fee Reconciliation catches the gaps. Three mismatches you'd otherwise never find: students riding the bus with no bus fee, students paying a bus fee but not assigned to any route, and students whose stop doesn't match the stop their fee is based on.
A record of overspeeding. Every speeding event for any date range you choose, so a conversation with a driver can start from a record rather than a rumour.
Transport Settings. Switch Transport on or off, decide whether parents can see the driver's phone number, set your speed limit and how early an approaching-bus alert goes out, and choose exactly which events — trip started, approaching, arrived, boarded, dropped, ended — send a notification.

Elsewhere in EDII this week

EDII Terminal — your school's day, replayed as a live log. Open it from the sidebar (EDII AI → Terminal) or the replay.log button at the top of the Dashboard. A full-screen terminal plays back today at your school line by line — attendance as classes mark it, fee receipts as they come in, recent admissions, dropout-risk alerts — all drawn from your school's own records. Press Replay to watch it again, or Esc to close.
Table headings that stay put. With Sticky Table Headers switched on (Configuration → Preferences → Table Header Settings), column titles now really do stay pinned while you scroll long tables — student lists, fee reports, defaulters, exam results, transport, meetings, question banks and many more. Each table scrolls inside a fixed height, so the headings never scroll away and the page stays a manageable length. Switch it off for full-height tables as before; printing is unaffected either way.

The bus is the part of school no one can see.

Once a child is on a bus, most schools lose sight of them until they walk through the gate — and every anxious parent phone call starts there. Transport in EDII is built to close that gap: where the bus is, who got on, whose papers are due, and which fares don't add up, all visible from the same screen you already use for everything else.
